Recycled Materials
Sustainability and considered manufacturing is hugely important to us at Attacus, and we're working hard to reduce our impact on the planet as much as we can.
One of the ways in which we're doing this is by researching, sourcing and testing recycled fabric technology. And our goal is to introduce recycled fabrics and components across all of our ranges within the next five years.
This is the place where you can learn more about the recycled materials we're using. As we expand our use of recycled materials, we'll be adding to this page so you can learn more about what each garment is made from.
The Evo Collection and Thermal 2 Long Sleeve Jersey
The Evo Jersey and Bib Shorts comprise of innovative recycled materials produced in Italy by MITI, which is one of the most highly regarded fabric mills in the world. Part of their Green Soul range, these fabrics are both made entirely from post-consumer waste. This waste is washed, processed and repurposed into the nylon/elastane yarn blends which make up the garments.
Similarly, we've also looked to MITI's Green Soul range for our Thermal 2 Long Sleeve Jersey. An updated version of our original Thermal jersey, the Thermal 2 incorporates a brand new, stretchier brushed lycra which allows for better movement and breathability. The inside is soft and fleece-like, making it great at keeping warm air close to your body.
This fabric is 100% recycled each jerseys is made from approximately 14 1.5litre single-use plastic bottles which have been repurposed into yarn.
While using more environmentally friendly fabrics is of huge importance to us, we also wanted to make sure we weren't compromising on quality. This range does exactly that. MITI are experts in their field, and have used their decades of experience in fabric production to make sure that their Green Soul range matches up to their traditional fabrics in terms of performance.
Through months of testing a prototyping, we were able to select the fabrics we felt not only had a superb look and finish, but also offered all of the performance you'd expect from a top end jersey.
These fabrics are also BLUESIGN certified, which means they’ve been produced using sustainable, eco-friendly and safe methods. They're also certified by the GRS – Global Recycled Standard, a certification which guarantees the presence of recycled yarns in a product.
Chamois Pads
Our chamois pads are made in Italy by world leading pad maker Elastic Interface. They're all made from ECO fabrics, which are all made by recycling consumer and industrial waste. This handy diagram shows how the materials are made.
